Majo to Kyurasu

In 16th century Europe, a witch helps her young apprentice escape a witch hunt and then disappears without a trace. Years later, in modern-day Japan, the apprentice finally tracks her down—only to find that the once-powerful witch is now a gloomy, apathetic woman who spends her days smoking by the window.
